A DAY MAY COME

Prologue:
“For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence– on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night, instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.
Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumour in printed, no secret is revealed “.
President John F. Kennedy
April 27, 1961
“The President and the Press”

A day may come when shadows roar,
And the hearts of men scamper in fright.
A day of chaos, and of blood and gore,
When the ancient Zeitgeist rises up in might.

A day may come when balance is extinguished,
And the soul of humanity is sorrowed and anguished.
A day fraught with apathy, greed and avarice,
When the great conspiracy reveals its darkest malice.

A day may come when liberty will perish,
An hour of doom for all that we cherish.
A day of dread and utter dismay,
But it is not this day!

This day we hold firm in our common humanity,
That bond of unity that will outlast even eternity.
This day we cast aside all forms of hate and intolerance,
And we embrace the possibility of universal consonance.

Epilogue:
“The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed – the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish. …..”
Charles ‘Charlie’ Chaplin

STRONG BORN

They have climbed your walls and breached your gates
They have split the doors and tested fate
When you lay heavy laden, burden beneath your pillow
They have come, they have come crawling through the window

Eseosa; they forget the gifts of the gods is a promised rainbow

They feast making merry with dusty feet upon your seat
Casting lots upon your hopes, they share wine and meat
They wallow in puddles of a pseudo victory, a despicable sight
Singing out of tune into the watchful moon, vanity rules the night

The err feeling the black skinned is feeble and awful

Alas, they could not break your resolve, like flames and gold
Taking and taking, they have left you wounded, bare and cold
Who taught them to corner a Lion? Who led them astray?
With your back against the wall, your resolve is hard and gray.

The libation of my fathers warms my earthen heart

You leap at life and swing with all your might, you roar
God’s gift to humanity, made to plunder and conquer
Perched on the wings of a thousand eagles, a glorious flight
The pain is only skin deep, you are born strong. Stand.

No Iroko is born a dwarf, nor Palms wonder lust.

The man that rises after a fall, our people say is Agbaka
The leg that dances in the Igue knows the newness of things
Let the Eweye leaf protect me from the eyes of the Esu
When they smile, the enemies tongue will be smeared with unripe Alubara.

You are more than what they think you are, a phoenix dancing in the flames

You face the world, knowing hope is the bead on your wrist
Courage, the cowries your neck has chosen to carry
Thrust the spear in anyway, The Lion’s soul knows not mortal wrecks.
You will come back like Oba Eweka with a greater ordinance and feast.

Beauty for Ashes, we will not forget the rainbow after the storm

TALES OF AN UNTOLD POET

Why go through life to arrive safely in death?
Like there’s supposed to be another route
We all travel down the same direction yet each with a different purpose
To each his own odyssey.

To wake up to a smile of a loved one
And feel the gust on our cheeks
To be alive, safe and daring, living with fulfillment
Unaware of what prowls in the dark

Humans feel power lies in strength
True resolve lies in the fact that even when ripped apart
Wide open with bowels crashing down the highway
Having a stronger resolve to live still

Death, a gateway to the afterlife
It feels like a fairytale to men who understand its passage
Yet the tragedy of a soul ripped from the arms of a loved one
We all exist in different dimensions

A journey, a story of a poet whose words
Seek but cannot find the balance of nature
But of pain, torment and torture
These are the word of the untold poet.

A PIECE WITH NO NAME

Posted: June 1, 2014 in Odyssey

I had the perfect words
All the lines added up
A meaning that could make the atheists
Let go of cynicism and believe in God
Now I cannot understand a single thing

I should write about love
Puny humans believe its a thing of joy
Something to be held dear
But in these words I find hate, anger and confusion

A contrasting feature…one that tells of strength, ambition, pride and selfishness
One that tells of power, rage and self control
With a satisfied grin, Hate becomes a powerful tool
In the hands of one who has been hurt

Life is a contrasting gift
Each breathe makes it seem better
In the blink of an eye all that is held dear could be lost
Am stuck on faith, views and grace…a treasured gift

Death, despised by many…an inevitable end
A journey believed by some to signal the end of an era
With all I hold dear and am afraid to lose

………………………..Words don’t mean anything

VALKYRIE

I nurse in my arms quite gingerly
An apple half bitten
By the legend in his ingenuity
His finest work.

He taught my heart to dance
And my feet, the beat
With glorious melody and sound
He knew not defeat.

The raging battle field of life
Bed of spilled blood and broken bones
The valiant lay alongside the craven
Food for vultures and crows.

Speed and Drift, crash and the track
Through your blue eyes, we lived our dreams
You drove on the edge, wild and hard
Living as you died, fast and furious.

Apartheid never had a fiercer nemesis
With blood, sweat and bitter tears
He broke inequality’s bonds
Father, Fighter and Friend.

The Eagle on the Iroko, they called you
You drew adversity’s breath and let out a steam of words
Giving life to tradition’s dying throes
You were the tales by moonlight.

The skies part to reveal quite a sight
Behold the great Bird, terrifying in beauty
Wings beat like a thousand Chariots in flight
The eyes of Odin the Blind.

Glorious respite for the fallen warriors
They have been deemed worthy
Tonight they dine in the halls of Valhalla
They were indeed more than men.

MISGUIDED

Broken my heart a dozen times yet for some reason I never learn
taking the highway’s consistent tones, birds chirping sweet lullaby’s been sung

Damaged beyond repair
I have come to terms with my inner demons
Lust is defined to me by love
trust has become a fading memory, why?

Depression no longer holds its sweet warmth
no comfort in solitude, the quietest of places holds the aura of a thousand lost souls
anger has become the new dream

What happened to peace?
why can’t I find calm?what have I done?
who have I become?
what if am a merely a fading memory?

Distractions can no longer hold me in high esteem
I hear voice telling me to let it go,wisdom and the quest for knowledge a daily obsession
More pleasurable than the love of a woman
Sex no longer holds the meaning it once held,my virginity spunned and waste like trash tossed into the abyss such memories once held like a grand gesture to the world

I am damaged beyond repair…… This is life
Pain is just a compromise,I needed u
I really did but now…you mean nothing to me
I think you are plain overrated

You nothing to me
Even with all you glitters, promises of a better tomorrow
I would surpass you and prove i am the better man

Am afraid to see true beauty
I can no longer decipher the puzzle of reality
The illusion, my new found obsession
In these lies I have found my depth
and strength in a quality I once despised

May the world gaze at your star and wish on your dreams
Like broken glasses, our dreams have become dented and shattered
Where I see horror, you see beauty
When I quake, you stand firm
Is there no end to this battle of wits?

Alas am forced to accept defeat
We are wayfaring souls in search of peace……..I would admit I am lost, and for the man who hasn’t lost his way I will loathe his victory.

RESTLESS THOUGHTS

What right have u to judge a liar?
When you cannot fathom the reasons for the illusion
Some draw strength from keeping their vulnerability and childlike warmth

Ever notice has easy it is to be looked down upon?
How empty it feels when you’re alone
Love and peace two words dat bind us yet we are so sparingly attracted to hate and violence
All in the guise of nation building

I scratch my brain for even the deepest thoughts
What becomes of my illusion when i am not deep enough?
What happens when i finally wake up to the fact that life isnt a bed of roses?it scares me that even my highest points could be considered as someone’s lowest

What right have you to decide who should be poor?
They say a lazy man shouldn’t be fed
But what happens when hard work fails to offer its due satisfaction, are we then to compromise?

A million and one thoughts flutter through my mind, yet am uneasily calm as to the thoughts that reek of you
The still balance between insanity and the world I once knew………knowledge a powerful tool that can truly break a man’s resolve

Knowledge is like a glass of water
When half empty, a pessimist understands
When half full, an optimist believes
We strengthen ourselves with the harsh reality that man’s greatness rests upon him!
